I always enjoy exploring new communities. Who doesn’t? Having now lived in eight different states it has been my pleasure to become familiar with some of the country’s more spectacular cities including: Portland, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Denver, St. Louis, Fairbanks, and many others. Beyond the friends and family I miss from these special places, the local, unique stores and restaurants are a large part of what I yearn for when reminiscing. Of course, have their share of chain stores and chain restaurants, but the mom and pop spots that you can’t find anywhere else really draw me in.
Here in La Quinta, one such local, unique spot is Egg Café located on Washington and Calle Tampico. This quaint café offers a delicious breakfast and lunch menu along with great service and a warm atmosphere.
Dorielle, the owner of Egg Café, is community oriented and loves her customers. She tends to greet her regulars with a hug and a kiss and is always ready to share pictures of her cat. In addition to plenty of south facing sunlight, the walls of this cozy establishment are adorned with her tasteful artwork. The Egg Café is committed to serving the local community and in doing so has partnered with Live Well Clinic, a local health clinic, to offer a modified menu that caters to those with specific dietary and nutrition needs. The Egg Cafe also offers free meals to seniors with funds in part donated from other customers.
At the recommendation of a good friend and colleague I visited the Egg Café one weekend morning for breakfast. After the wonderful experience I had there, it is now my default breakfast spot, and will quite possibly become my default lunch spot too! The warm atmosphere, bulletproof coffee, and avocado surprise can’t keep me away!
